Posted 16 days ago by Joyce Heyliger

We are delighted to extend an invitation to the Virgin Islands State Nurses Association to join us at the Virgin Islands Child Psychiatry Access Program (VICPAP)'s Mixer. This event will take place in St. Croix on April 19, 2024, at Le Jolie Events and Rentals in Sion Farm, St. Croix.

The focus of this gathering will be "Building Bridges of Understanding: Behavioral Health Education for Pediatric Primary Care." We aim to introduce the Boston Children's Hospital CME course and discuss how its patient and parent education content, including Guided Self-Management Toolkits for Families, can be instrumental in aiding implementation by pediatric primary care practices that lack Behavioral Health staff.

 Date: April 19, 2024

Time: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Venue: Le Jolie Events and Rentals, Sion Farm, St. Croix

This was a great opportunity to meet with healthcare professionals in the community to talk about the mental health of our children. The project with VICPAP offers in-school assessments and provides psychological testing and therapy for those needing the services. Did you know this was available for our children in all schools in the Virgin Islands? Our pediatricians can directly make referrals to their psychiatrist if needed. Too many of our children are suffering because of the lack of knowledge on our part and also the attitude of them "growing out" of the phase. Help is available and teachers, parents, counselors, nurses, and physicians....must reach out for the children's sake. They are our future generation and we need mentally, emotionally, and physically healthy community members.
